Pray Without Ceasing

Pray without ceasing.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 KJV

Without the Lord, we have no light, no guidance, no power to do what he’s called us to do. He is our source of wisdom, understanding, strength, and every good and perfect thing. He constantly assures the saints in his word that if you ask for those good things, in his will, for his glory, he will certainly give it.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.

John 15:7-8 KJV

If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 7:11 KJV

Man is always the weak link in the covenant with the Lord. He abides always faithful, we struggle in the world and with our own flesh. He calls us to pray unceasingly, not as a burden, but as a continual return to the source of our spiritual well-being, in a world crafted by Satan. If we don’t pray constantly, we drift further from the only One that can keep us from temptation and evil, giving more provision to the flesh and the cultural influences around us. Does the Lord say in vain, “without me ye can do nothing?” Not at all…

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

John 15:5 KJV

How do we do this? Well, just like a marriage covenant, we’re in constant communication with the Lord about where we are, what we’re doing, and his guidance for the situations that we encounter. This could be done in a vocalized prayer, or prayers in the mind; the prayers can be long, or short, but we need not go on and on in one prayer, as the Lord always knows exactly what we need.

Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.

Ecclesiastes 5:2 KJV

But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

Matthew 6:7-8 KJV

The Lord will not hear the prayer of vanity, prayers that are used to fulfill the lusts of the flesh, or any other foolishness outside of his will. He also won’t hear the prayers of willful sinners!

Surely God will not hear vanity, neither will the Almighty regard it.

Job 35:13 KJV

Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

James 4:3 KJV

Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

John 9:31 KJV

My admonition to you is to keep the communication with the Lord consistent, desiring to do his will, and he will give you what you need to bear him much fruit. Whether it be words to say to someone who’s listening to Truth, or strength to work hard as a good witness, or guidance to rightly divide his word, the Lord is ready and willing to give good things to them that ask.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

James 1 :5-7 KJV

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

John 14:13-14 KJV

Discernment Test

This church card I found in a laundromat plastered all over (I took them all down) lacks key points and teaches an easy-believe Gospel.

– No call to repentance/ losing your life for Christ in this world
– No mention of endurance

There’s no such thing as a “sinner’s prayer” in the scriptures, every man must work out his own salvation with fear and trembling, forsaking all, asking the Lord for his Spirit, and continuing to abide in the Vine unto eternal life. See the actual Gospel the Bible teaches here.

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?
